Christmas...yay...? sigh...?

before i write anything else....Blessed Christmas to all!!!!

My internet is ok already...bought a new modem. hehe. Yup...i am updating my blog...on christmas day! yay! :P

Let me rant about this season...hmm..year after year...same thing...santa, reindeer, wreaths, candy canes, tree, etc.. Church..? same sermon repeated again and again....same rituals....( i have nothing against rituals..can be quite meaningful)..year after year the same thing...i feel people get stressed up more than enjoy christmas. i look around...people stressed with christmas shopping...running here and there...

Christmas...the time in the year to remember the birth of our Lord Jesus Christ into the world. Though it's not written in the Bible, we still choose a day to remember this. Noble idea but look what has happened? Santa? Who is he? He is not mentioned in the bible...yet we pay so much attention to 'him' as if he was some kind of god. Presents under brightly lit christmas trees...? we don't see that in the bible...

I have nothing against christmas...its a noble idea to remember Christ human birth but i can say that Christmas has been 'hijacked'. It has turned into another holiday along with the other holidays...lost its true meaning. Our attention is no longer solely on the God of the Bible who gave His only begotten Son but divided with Money/Mammon aka materialism. But people argue that this teaches us, especially children, to be more generous in giving. Maybe.. Who is doing the asking and receiving? Children. Do they give? Yes, only some...a few. So...?

Why does it have to be christmas or some special event to show our appreciation to some one? there are around 365 days in a year. Why only certain days? Why not on a normal day?

So..yeah...some things to rant about. Again, Christmas is a noble idea..i have nothing against it. Its what it has become that is so sickening. Below are some bible verses. They are non-exhaustive. i may add when the verse comes to me. Again, have a Blessed Christmas!!!

Solis Deo Gloria!!!

Bible Verses

Luke 16:13, "No servent can serve to masters. Either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and Money."

Matthew 22:36-38, ""Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" Jesus replied: "'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment..."

Isaiah 42:8, "I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not give my glory to another or my praise to idols."

Isaiah 5:12, "They have harps and lyres at their banquets, tambourines and flutes and wine, but they have no regard for the deeds of the LORD, no respect for the work of his hands."

All About Strings...

Sigh...com still haven't repair yet..i am writing this from another com..hehe. I was helping out at TRAC office the other day and I had the task of untangling and cutting strings into almost equal lengths. As I was doing that, i began to think about the tangled up strings on my lap (i spent most of my concentration untangling the strings..who would not think about the strings?). To make my task less daunting, i seperated the tangle of strings into smaller tangles and concentrated my view on the smaller tangle so that i won't be intimidated by the larger tangle. I realised that life is sometimes like that. We want God to reveal the whole blueprint for our lives but we usually don't get it.

We sometimes say, "God, if you reveal the blueprint of my life to me, I would know what to do". But God in His wisdom doesn't (even if he does, rarely but I haven't heard before) reveal the whole blueprint of our lives mainly because we may become paralysed with fear when we see the whole path. We may be so stunned or mortified that we may try our best to change the not so good events that God intended to use to mould us. We may be paralysed with fear when we see the whole future ahead that we may not trust God anymore and try to take the situation in our own hands and try to change things.

This is my opinion why God doesn't reveal the blueprint of our lives slap in our faces but takes us through each step day by day. In Psalm 119:105, it reads "Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light for my path". It didn't say "Your word is a spotlight for my path". Spotlights are very powerful and can shine a whole way down a road and reveal everything. But instead it is a lamp. You know how a lamp shines light right? :P Short distances only...:P
